Needs Analysis

PerfectSiteSM will help define requirements that match your organization's connectivity needs. We'll specify structured-cabling systems that give top performance and value over the structured-cabling system life cycle.

Problems typically arise in an open-office environment (system furniture) when cubicles are torn down and reconstructed. Unexpected re-cabling costs occur because of a poor up-front needs analysis of the company churn rate. By providing strategically located consolidation points and multi-user outlets, the future costs of moves, adds, and changes to your structured-cabling system will be reduced over its life cycle.

Bid Creation & Evaluation

It's easy to get confused by vendors' differing terminology. PerfectSiteSM cuts through the confusion with professionally defined specifications. We'll make sure you are comparing "apples to apples." That applies to contractor performance and service, as well as hardware components.

When providing bid specifications, particularly in the government sector, it has become a de facto standard to say, "Yes, Yes, Yes," when bidding on a poorly written Request for Proposal (RFP). Then, upon execution of the contract say, "No, No, No," on as many items as possible (and being legally right), thus increasing the value of the contract many times over the original award price.

Manufacturer Product Evaluation

There are many different manufacturers of structured cabling systems. The components are independently tested for transmission performance as required by TIA/EIA-568-A, ISO/IEC 11801, and other standards.

In addition to the testing that already exists, PerfectSiteSM tests the functionality of the mechanical design of the components. Is the vertical management that came with your rack inadequate for high-density patching? This might seem like a harmless question until you start installing a lot of patch cords and end up with a rat's nest. Or is the multi-user outlet designed for easy access, but, when installed on a surface activates a defective hinge, making it difficult to open and causing possible future breakage?

An end-user typically finds out about these problems when it is too late--after an installation. In addition to PerfectSiteSM's testing, feedback on products is gathered from 300+ contractors who have worked with PerfectSiteSM all over the world.

System Warranty Evaluation

For peace of mind and protection of your investment, the system warranty is an excellent option. However, every manufacturer's warranty can be different and unclear. How do you know what you are getting? If a problem arises down the road, where do you go to get it corrected? Who is responsible, the certified contractor or the manufacturers?

You had installed a Category 5, UTP structured-cabling system last year and have recently migrated to 100BaseT, but are experiencing intermittent problems with transmission. First, you call in your firm's data consultant. After exhaustive testing (all billable), he blames it on the cabling system. Second, you contact the certified cabling contractor who performed the installation. After more testing, the contractor finds out that it is a delay skew problem with the 2x2 construction of the Category 5, UTP plenum cable. Third, the certified contractor notifies the manufacturer, but finds that it is not covered under the 15-year warranty because it met the TIA/EIA 568-A standard at the time of installation. The final result--all of the Category 5, UTP cabling must be replaced at your expense.

PerfectSiteSM can sift through the legalese and paperwork to ensure that you get the full benefits of the warranty that you paid for. PerfectSiteSM, as a member of U.S. and International standards committees, can react to potential problems that are presently being addressed in the standards, but may take years to resolve and incorporate into existing or new standards. This insight has saved clients thousands of dollars in the life cycle of their structured-cabling system and provides a more comprehensive system warranty, with fewer contractual loop holes.
